When I lived in Taiwan one of the joys of that climate were the flowers. When I opened the door to the garden the smell of jasmine would waft through the house. The jasmine flowers let off their sent at night fall. I didn’t need these artificial sprays I just opened the door or window. The previous council general decided to put an arbor at the entrance. When we got there it was a white lattice arch covering the entrance to the garden. In a very short time a borganvilla plant with its bright magenta leaves covered the white lattice work welcoming the guest to our home. One of the special beauties of the borganvilla is that it has flowers all year long. When I met people in Taipei from Kaohsiung every one said oh you should see the house you are going to live int. It has a very big yard. I heard this over and over. The cultural concept of big yard to an American and a big yard to the Chinese were two completely different concepts. It was approximately thirty meters wide by fifty meters long. Otherwise it was the size of our large living room where I grew up. The Flowers were so beautiful that it made up for the fact that we had a mini yard.WFeLearn chinese in shanghai,Learn mandarin, Mandaringarden
